Hi all,

I have 7 servers using BESR2010 all backing up to 1 server on the network.

All of these servers backups have failed all with the same error below:

Error EC8F17B7: Cannot create recovery points for job: Drive Backup of System Reserved (*:\), (C:\), Apps & Data (D:\).
Error EC8F03ED: Cannot create the recovery point.
Error E7D1000B: Unable to make directory '//*Servername*/backups/'.
Error EBAB03F1: The system cannot find the file specified. (UMI:V-281-3215-6071)

Details:

The server its being backed up to is Server 2003 Standard.

There is enough diskspace and is accessible from all 7 other servers.

SSR 2011 and dual booting windows 7 and Ubuntu 12.04

HI all,

Just seeking some clarification on whether there are any known issues of restoring a windows 7 64-bit image in a dual boot system.

I dual boot win7 ultimate and ubuntu 12.04 - they are both on separate physical hard disks but I currently load into the Ubuntu hard disk and run windows 7 as a default from the GRUB bootloader.

  • I am very keen to protect my windows 7 system and would like to know if I create an image of windows 7 in the above configuration will it lead to problems when I need to recover?
  • Would it be better if while creating the image in SSR 2011 I boot directly to the win7 hard disk, then reset my boot configuration to the above once the image is created?

Interested to know if anyone has any advice on this.

Cheers

Manually Create Offsite Copy Of Base Full Backup

Ja, ich suche eine Lösung

Hello,

I just setup an offsite network storage drive for offsite backups.  The whole thing works pretty good, except that I use incremental backup, and the first full backup is over 100 GB, which just isn't feasible to transfer over a 20 Mbps connection.

Here is my question:  If I manually copy and paste the full backup onto my network storage drive via a portable hard drive, will system recovery honor that copy and just continue on with the incremental backups?  In other words, I would put the inital full backup on the network drive manually.

Just wondering if anyone out there has any best practices that would be helpful.

Thanks!

Justin

I installed SSR2011 on server 2008 (R) SP2. The SSR installed fine . When I click on the icon to configure the backup I get this message. I am logged in as the administrator and the administrator is listed in the security configurator.  I have: uninstalled and installed, ensured 3.5 netframe is installed (included 2.0).

ERROR = E1AD3212: You do not have sufficient privileges to perform this operation. See help for more information about security settings.

Where do I go from here?

SSR2013 MS why is "Attention Needed"

Ja, ich suche eine Lösung

Hi,

we see the status report "Attention Needed" for several PCs in our management console. There is an explanation for possible reasons for this report if I click on "Attention Needed". However, none of these possibilities seem to apply (i.e. the backup policy is assigned and has run recently on the same day, the computer missed none of the scheduled backups and there are recovery points for every partition on the same day). So why do I see this irritating report then?

Any ideas?

Our company uses BESR versions 7, 10 and 11 for server backups.  Is there a script I can use to verify the recovery points on each server without having to log in to them separately?

Error Code Explaination

Ja, ich suche eine Lösung
I can surmise what this is saying. However, I don't know what it means as far as going forward.

What I mean is; if the error message would've said, "if you know why your computer froze up solid, perhaps because of another program (which is the case), while SSR2013 was enumerating, don't sweat-it." I would then know not to worry. Or, the message could've said, "since we couldn't enumerate the volume(s), life is no longer worth living."

So, I'd like to know whether to worry about this or not.

Thank you

Running SSR 2013 Desktop edition on single computer for backup purposes. (OS is Windows Vista, which is not an option in the drop-down box).  I am the only user and I have full admin rights.  Backup is from the first two drives in the computer onto a third drive in the computer.

Worked fine for about 2 months.  Now it won't work because the SSR Service won't start.  When I try to manually start the SSR service I get an error message, from Windows, of 2147221005.

symantec system recovery 2013 network issues ip address configuration

I'm having serious issue in Symantec system recovery 2013 n regards to network ip address configuration.

have successfully reboot the HP DL 360 G7 server with the network support (Broadcom BCM 5709 netXtreme II NDIS VBD Client). This server has got pNIC with 4x ports but with just one network cable plugged in with no DHCP in the production network.

the problem is that cannot statically assign IP address with the same IP address, Subnet and Gateway + DNS servers as the server that I'm about to restore.

Everytime I have finished configuring the static IP on Broadcom Interface 1, the IP config VIEW result always shows APIPA 169.254 IP addressing ?

Hello,

This has happened a number of times and I'm wanting to know what this icon means.

The backup is successful, the service is started, however as seen in the attachment there is a red X icon next to my backup job.  What does that mean?

I've checked a PDF icon legend but couldn't find this one.

Thanks

Database named "RollbackSnapshotTempDB" left after System Recovery 2013 backup

Ja, ich suche eine Lösung

We have a Windows Server 2008 R2 server with SQL Server 2008 R2 x64 installed. We have been using Backup Exec 2010 to perform Full and Transaction log backups of the databases in our SQL server, and System Recovery 2010 to backup the entire server. A couple weeks ago we upgraded System Recovery 2010 to 2013 and we noticed our Backup Exec 2010 jobs started failing. After investigating we discovered several databases named "RollbackSnapshotTempDB" were piling up. We tried to right-click the DB and go to properties but received an error message.

The SQL logs showed a lot of errors related to those "RollbackSnapshotTempDB" databases, such as:

Date  7/2/2013 6:07:37 AM
Log  SQL Server (Current - 7/16/2013 8:38:00 AM)

Source  spid400

Message
The operating system returned error 21(The device is not ready.) to SQL Server during a read at offset 0x00000053fc2000 in file '\\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy11\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10_50.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\DATA\XXXXXX.MDF'. Additional messages in the SQL Server error log and system event log may provide more detail. This is a severe system-level error condition that threatens database integrity and must be corrected immediately. Complete a full database consistency check (DBCC CHECKDB). This error can be caused by many factors; for more information, see SQL Server Books Online.

And:

Date  7/2/2013 6:07:37 AM
Log  SQL Server (Current - 7/16/2013 8:38:00 AM)

Source  spid400

Message
Error: 823, Severity: 24, State: 2.

If I go into the SQL Server Management Studio and and try to delete the "RollbackSnapshotTempDB" databse I receive an error that says "Cannot drop the database because it is being used for replication". However if I take the "RollbackSnapshotTempDB" database offline then I can delete it, and the next Backup Exec 2010 SQL backup job will complete successfully.

These errors seem to indicate a file system problem, however a CHKDSK shows no problems. We have rebooted the server as well with no change.

I have googled this issue until I'm blue in the face and have not found any solutions. Does anyone have any ideas?

Here are more details on the server:

Virtual Server running on ESXi 5.1 Update 1

Physical host is HP Proliant DL380 G6

Storage provided by HP LeftHand iSCSI SAN

Server 2008 R2 with all Windows Updates applied

SQL Server 2008 R2 with all Windows Updates applied

Server has two vCPU's and 12GB of RAM

C: drive has 21GB free

D: drive has 88GB free (D: is where all the SQL data files are stored)

Prevent System Recovery from creating .bak files of SQL databases

Ja, ich suche eine Lösung

I am an experienced DBA that just started a job with a new company.  When analyzing the SQL Server Logs, I noticed that full database backups were being created at 10:00 nightly through a SQL Job and again at 10:30 nightly via "some other process".  Turns out that other process is Symantec System Recovery 2011.  It is reduntant to create the backups at 10:30 PM and can potentially break the log chain, but the network engineer at this company insists that it is not possible to NOT create the .bak files during the Symantec System Recovery VSS backup process.   The databases are in FULL recovery mode and Symantec is not backing up the transaction logs.  The network engineer also says that the .bak files that are created are not accessable so cannot be used for recovery purposes.  This intuitively makes no sense to me and have never been told this by any other network team.

Questions:

Is there a setting to prevent Symantec from creating the .bak files?  All I want is for the .bak and .trn files that are created via SQL Jobs to be backed up.

Is there any good documentation on the process Symantic System Recovery 2011 uses to back up SQL databases?

I like to tryout system recovery 2013 2013.11.0.1.47662 multi (60 day trial)  in a Windows 7 pro environment, .NET framework 4.0, but a window pops up with VproConsole error "Error in Main" and "Aangevraagde registertoegang is niet toegestaan". I'd tried all of the .NET framework from 2.0 till 4.5, but still i can't start SSR. Who knows what to do??
